How to plan what to wear for a great day on a boat.

A day on a boat is magical since you get complete relaxation and get to look your best at the same time. You can get that tan you wanted, feel the breeze against your skin and today, take so many pictures for keep's sake. Take it from me; you need to plan ahead for a day like this. I do not mean that you start thinking of what you will do but what you will wear.

For a woman it is very hard just to get up, pick up anything from the closet and walk out. Every outfit requires careful planning which is where I come in. I do not want your time on a boat to be the most difficult day or that you are caught off guard by situations on the boat. Here is how you prepare what you need for a boat day.

  • Wear regular clothes on smaller boats, dress more fancy on bigger yachts

By regular clothes, I mean that you should choose a standard fabric. It is, after all, a boat ride, you can bring along silk and organza on a bigger yacht, but these fabrics are not ideal on smaller boats because you will ruin them. Just be normal and enjoy the day instead of always worrying about splashes of salty water on your designer clothes. Due to the breeze and winds, you are bound to get wet many times which is why essential clothing is what you need on a smaller boat. Fancy clothes, scarfs and heads will work better on yachts, but still might fly off in the wind even before you settle in.

  • Plan for different weather conditions

Do not let the bright sun fool you, climatic changes occur so fast and often that if you are not ready, there is a risk of being in painful weather conditions. Bring along warm clothes for when the cold begins to bite and also wear light enough for the blazing sun.

  • Have a big handbag

There is a lot you need for a boat day, and you need some place to fit it all in. Carrying your bag around keeps you ready and prepared at all times. A big bag also allows you to pack different outfits which give you choices and a fallback plan when your clothes get wet. The big bag will still have space left for your accessories like makeup and sunscreen.

  • What do you have on your feet?

The right footwear is crucial in a boat. Open flats that allow your feet to breathe are great but ensure that the shoes you bring have a lot of grip on them since a boat can be slippery when wet. You can also opt for sandals that are easy to slip on and off, just be careful when you step.

  • Have your swimsuit on when you arrive

When you are going with your friends, it can get crowded on a boat, and there is hardly any changing space in a boat except small bathrooms. When you have your swimwear on, it makes it easy to take off the shorts or cover up that you have on. Choose comfort and to avoid dreading your boat experience, keep your time in the bathroom minimal by having your swimsuit already on so that you only go to the small spaces when necessary. Make sure this swimsuit is comfortable so when jumping of the boat it stays on your body and still covers your private parts. Also make sure the bikini or swimsuit Is small enough to get that perfect sun tan on your beautiful boat day!

  • Be careful about short clothes

A short dress or skirt is perfect as it will help you to deal with the warmth and enjoy the sun but make sure that you are comfortable in a short dress since most of the time on the boat, high winds will blow over, and this could prove frustrating when you are in a short dress that quickly blows away. You spend a lot more time also moving from the top deck to the lower deck, and the ladder is not ideal for a short skirt or dress.

  • Sunglasses

It is not only as an accessory but a necessity. You need sunglasses to complete the boat look and also shield you from the sun when basking and the high winds. You will find yourself squinting all day, and your eyes will get exhausted very fast if you don’t have sunglasses.

For a magical boat experience, especially where women are concerned, feeling sexy and being comfortable is everything. I find that women will even risk their lives to remain fashionable, please do not try this. If the situation calls for a life jacket, by all means, wear it and do not give a hoot about what it does to your style. Safety is important and should come before anything.

Enjoy your beautiful day on the boat!
